We got in on Friday to check in and immediately hit the party route with a first stop at the BCBGMaxazria Beauty Bungalow. It was a quaint, not so little house all the way on top of a hill with a mountain as its backyard. There we were fed our alcohol fix with Maker's Mark, pampered by Benefit Cosmetics, and dressed in BCBG of course. Our next stop was the Harper's Bazaar party at the Parker which was the most beautiful hotel I've seen in Palm Springs. Giant chess set anyone? Some of the most well-dressed party goers came to play and dance poolside to some beats by Mia Moretti, including Katy Perry.
Saturday was the big guns day. We fueled for the day at an intimate brunch by True Religion and Flaunt Magazine (where they had the best omelettes ever and prime rib) and headed over to the unbelievable Merv Griffin Estate for the H&M party. You could cool down in the large atrium full with rugs and lounge beds, dip into the pool in front of Santigold while she performs around 6-8 of her rad-ass songs, take a couple-y ride on the paddleboat on their lake, or feast on 4 different buffet tables. No, there totally wasn't enough to do (psh, right). We fanned over the likes of Jason Wu, Darren Criss, and Diane Kruger. It was hard to leave, but we decided to end our day at one of our LA-famous parties, the Rhonda, which transported to the Saguaro hotel for the Coachella weekend. It was definitely a change of pace from our earlier digs - there was so much energy, good vibes, and wild looks. This brave soul even risked rope burn to show us her moves on the makeshift pole.
You'd think Sunday would be easier but nope, the Guess party was up and going in an private pool area at the Viceroy Hotel. We found lots of lounge beds to sip your cocktails on, Rony's photobooth to snap a pic like you're in the desert (because who actually goes as far as the cacti live?), ping-pong tables to get your game on, and what we think is the best part of the party, the Bumbys. The Bumbys are anonymous performance artists (which explains the intense head get-up) who give you "a fair and honest appraisal of your appearance." You get up in front of either Gill or Jill and you stand there with a bit of fear and thrill as they stare and look you up and down behind mirrored glasses. They type on these old-school Brother typewriters with agility on lined notecards and hand edit any mistakes once it's spit out. A signature of their name and stamp of the Bumbys and done. Get ready to be intrigued, shocked, and mindblown with some of the most accurate readings, ever. And have fun sharing with your friends what they said about each of you. After raving to each other about the awesomeness of the Bumbys, we headed to another LA staple, the Do Over at the Ace Hotel. Nothing like the best hip hop to finish the weekend.
